A Thrift Store Huffy – Gratitude Rant #15

It’s gonna work this time, I just know it…

With my eyes completely riveted to my computer monitor, I leaned forward, crossed my fingers with on one hand, and hit Ctrl + Enter with the other.

A split-second later, this flashed up my screen:

[42703] ERROR: column "d_table.column" must appear in the GROUP BY clause or be used in an aggregate function
[2018-11-15 16:27:15] Position: 285

GAH! Piece o’ junk!

Shaking my head, I slouched back down in my seat, and glared at my computer.

Well maybe if it tried this

I quickly tried “this”, fingers clickety-clacking on the keyboard just as fast as I could manage. And then, once again, I held my breath and hit Ctrl + Enter.

My screen flashed for a moment — and then:

[08001] ERROR: Invalid Parameters

Big Hill – Gratitude Rant #14

I don’t think it’s any secret that I absolutely LOVE where we live.

When you drive up our mile-long gravel road, we’re the last house on your left, nestled at the foot of “Big Hill”. And honestly, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more beautiful place to live and raise a family.

Although at the same time, I definitely didn’t need any optics to see that he was big. Probably 24″ wide, for any of you hunters out there. And with November being “rutting” season, his neck was just as thick and swollen as could be.

Talk about majestic! Continue reading “Big Hill – Gratitude Rant #14”

Baggy Wool Shirts – Gratitude Rant #12

WARNING: Today’s gratitude rant might get a little sentimental.

Y’see, I wore a baggy wool shirt today…

And when I say “baggy”, I mean it was at least 4 or 5 sizes too big.

And when I say “wool”, I mean 100% wool, in all of its rough and itchy glory.

And with its bright red-and-blue plaid pattern, I don’t think anyone would accuse me of being overly “stylish” while wearing it.

Of course, it would be a pretty rare occasion, indeed, for ANY of my clothing choices to be considered stylish… Continue reading “Baggy Wool Shirts – Gratitude Rant #12”

Of Herbs And Fried Rabbit – Gratitude Rant #11

For three years now, I’ve been writing Gratitude Rants every November, and it’s always such a great experience.

I can honestly say that writing them has greatly enriched my life.

At the same time, I can also honestly say that Sundays are the hardest day of the week to write for!

Around here, Sunday is a special day. It’s the Lord’s day — and that brings with it all sorts of blessings. It’s a day of rest and rejuvenation. It’s a day of family and friends. It’s a day of service and sacrifice.

And that means I’ve always got a LOT to be grateful for on Sundays. Continue reading “Of Herbs And Fried Rabbit – Gratitude Rant #11”
