Traditions – Gratitude Rant #1

Well, November is officially here — and you know what that means, right?

GRATITUDE!

It’s become kind of a personal tradition of mine to write down one “Gratitude Rant” each day throughout the month of November (at least until the Thanksgiving holiday, anyway).

I’ve been carrying on this tradition for a couple years now, and I still find myself a little surprised at how powerful gratitude is.

It doesn’t matter how good or how crummy the day has been, if I take the time and effort to actually think about things I’m grateful for, I invariably feel better.

And believe me — there is ALWAYS something to be grateful for!

(Even if it’s just a working schnozz)

The only problem is, when I’m slogging through the trenches of day-to-day life, gratitude is easy to forget. It’s easy to get so wrapped up in the negative (or even just distracted by the mundane) that I forget to “count my blessings.”

That’s why I’m so grateful for this little tradition of mine. It forces me to spend nearly a full month focusing on the stuff that really MATTERS.

So here we go… Welcome to November!
