Washing Dishes – Gratitude Rant #16

Can I level with you for a minute?

I am so GRATEFUL that it was my turn to do the dishes tonight, and I am not even joking!

I know that sounds super weird — and believe me, I don’t typically enjoy washing dishes. (I may be strange, but I’m not THAT strange!) Tonight, however, was kind of an exception…

Life was just good as I stood there at the sink, up to my elbows in hot soapy water.

For starters, we’d just finished eating a killer homemade pizza (made with a creamy sausage-n-turnip sauce, and topped with fresh homegrown onions, cherry tomatoes, and turnip greens), so my belly was full of good food — and that makes virtually any job a heck of a lot more enjoyable.

But on top of that, Lindsey was still sitting in the kitchen with me, acting as my own personal “DJ” — using my phone to play whatever random song happened to pop into my head.

I tell ya, I probably looked like such a dork, grooving and dancing — and throwing my head back and singing at the top of my lungs to Red Hot Chili Peppers and Florence + The Machine (and pretty much everything in between), all while scrubbing dishes at the sink!

But y’know what? I didn’t care!

Not one bit!

Lindsey was laughing and singing, and our little monkey was dancing along — and the first snowflakes of winter were fluttering around outside…

It was definitely one of those “all-is-right-with-the-world” moments!

Seriously, who knew that washing the dishes could be so much fun?!
