Crazy Cud Chewers – Gratitude Rant #2

This is kind of a random question, but have you ever watched an animal chew its cud before?

If you haven’t, you’re more than welcome to come on over to our place and check it out!

I can’t quite put my finger on it, but there’s just something incredibly calming about the steady, methodical crunching of a steer chewing his cud — laying in a bed of fresh, clean straw; that far-off look in his big brown eyes; his jaw working through its slow, elliptical motions… It just gives off the feeling that “all is right with the world.”

Our goats, on the other hand, march to the beat of their own drum…

Their chewing cadence is so fast that (when you couple it with their silly faces, puffy cheeks, googly eyes, and floppy old ears) it’ll seriously make you laugh out loud! And to top it all off, sometimes they’ll even throw in a few parkour tricks!

I guess I’m just a simple person, because I get a ton of enjoyment out of watching our critters chew their cud! Whenever life starts getting a little hectic, all I have to do is go out back and watch those crazy old grazers of ours — there’s nothing else quite like it.

I’m very grateful for our little goofballs!
